“Spanish guitar” is an attempt to record my impressions of one summer afternoon in Andalusia. This painting started as a quick sketch of a guitar player, later on developed into a more complicated composition with a dancer holding a scarf with a traditional Spanish ornament. The figures and faces are simplified and stylised, the space flattened and the lines elongated, which gives the painting a melancholic twist and corresponds with the facial expressions.
